While I like the trailer- I'm a bit put off that it immediately breaks from the book with Fast Zombies.

I wonder how much more they changed....

Wait, I thought the book WAS fast zombies. A slow zombie apocalypse isn't a threat to an army.

Ah, okay, i read up on the wiki page for it. Arnos, you may be disappointed.

I, uh, I may or may not know a bit about this movie...

You know, "rumors." Yeah. I mean, I've "heard" things. Yeah, that's it.

Nope- you have to read it, the book made pretty good sense about how the slow zombies became a big threat and why the military wasn't as effective against them. Basically- it was about how the media downplayed it as a rabies outbreak and how pharma companies tried to cash in on vaccines. Also the reason standard military doctrine didn't work (aim for center mass, shock & awe against a non-thinking enemy). It's a good read. (or a good listen if you get the audio book)

I get it, but our guys can hit heads in vehicles moving at 50 mph. A shambling zombie that doesn't go down from a chest hit will get a bullet in the head next.

At any rate, I can't talk any further in this thread :) I keep having to delete stuff.

Ahhh yes- THOSE kind of guys made up the Alpha Teams. They were a "stopgap" measure to get the rest of the army mustered. By the time the government & militaries got off their collective behinds- there were millions of Z's and the average soldier is not a sharpshooter (at least not against 500 million Z's in USA alone)

Wait what year does the book take place in? Does all of Mexico and Canada migrate to the US? There aren't 500mm people in the US, total.

EHH- I'm probably off in that number. It's supposed to have happened in the next year or 2. Colin Powell becomes President after the "Great Panic" (with martial law).
There are MANY present day personalities in the book- though they are not named directly (just hinted at or nick-named)

Just checking though-- the World War Z Wikia states about 200mil in the US alone (with 600mil in China) so I was kinda close. Less than a third of the population of the US survived (it was wayyyy worse all around the globe)
