Anyone tried this? I think Zanshin has. It looks cool, but I've read some reviews that you have to play pretty regularly or your people die off quick

I haven't tried it. It's just a really great wrapper put on Tiny Tower. Ostensibly a Skinner Box with a nice sheen on it.

I've talked to lots of people who HAVE tried it, and determined that it's one of those games that I hate.

People love it though.

Skinner Box

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operant_c ... ng_chamber

Essentially, a lot of modern mobile "tap ville" style games are really just designed with a compulsion loop:

1). Do Task
2). Reward Doing of Successful Task
3). Show New Task (hint at reward)

This repeats ad infinitum. There is no game. There's no goal, no victory condition. It just continues. Forever. What they do is they make sure the rewards (Step 2) are VERY BENEFICIAL up front which establishes a psychological connection in your brain:

Press button
Get awesome thing

Then, they keep stretching out how long it takes to complete that compulsion loop. What took you 30 seconds the first time now takes two minutes. Then ten. Then an hour. Then two hours. Then days.

Players, wanting to get the dopamine their brain dumps when they get the reward (again, Step 2), will start trying to make the loop shorter, so they will pay money to shorten the loop. These can be:

2x power ups
Extra Energy
Straight up paying Cash for a Building to Complete Now

What a Skinner Box game does is essentially take the "Operant Conditioning Chamber" to a new level, and makes you PAY for the right to push the lever to get a food pellet.

I am not joking.

Been playing this for a while. It really sucked me in, because of the subject matter. My first shelter ran into problems and I had to start over. This one I maxed out ppl at 200 and had to send some out to kill them off to get new ppl.

Tips
Don't increase too fast. That's what happened to me. Couldn't supply enough power or food or water. Knock up some women only a couple at a time at most, and see how your power/food/water needs change

I lucked out and got a legendary character in a lunchbox right off the bat, so I sent him out exploring to get guns and outfits, and that helped me get started easier. There is a glitch to get unlimited lunch boxes for a while at the start.google how to do it if ya want.

Plan out your rooms, left side can hold a standard 3 wide room, right side holds - size of 5, so usually a 2 and 3 wide.

Your first room to the right of the entrance, is where raiders strike first, so have your best weapons there. If your ppl die, either pay to revive, or remove them. Other ppl don't like dead ppl lying around

Been playing it on android for a couple days. It's ok... I mean, it's fallout, so that's something I guess. While most of the fun is starting a new vault and getting the lunchboxes, that dies off along with a lot of the fun as you start cranking out rooms and dwellers. I don't think I will get to the point where deathclaws start fucking your shit up because there's not really anything interesting going on while I build up and I'll be damned if I'm paying cash monies for lunchboxes.
Also, the lunchbox loop has been fixed. At least it was by the time it launched on android a week ago.

They put a lot of fallout content in so that was kinda neat. I got Sarah Lyons (FO3 brotherhood member) and Preston Garvey (FO 4 npc) as legendary dwellers, both of whom are pretty OP for the beginning levels. I keep one vault going and restarting the other two just to see what all is in the game. I think I'm running out of gas for it at this point though. Definitely not going to keep me interested until November.

Is there any real advantage to building rooms next to each other? I can see the power/water/food thing- but what about others like the med bay, radio studio or even the weight room?

If you merge the same single rms together, they cost less to upgrade

Also radio rooms, while improving happiness, never bring ppl around until they're fully upgraded, and make sure they have the most C and L helps too

Here is one of my radio rooms ;)

Anything that raids your vault always progresses through every level in order, left to right. So they go through your door, past the elevator, and into each room. If you have multiple rooms in a row, they will come back through in reverse order, so logically, the first room after your elevator is where your big guns should be hanging out. Just make sure you're paying attention to stimpack usage because they will get beat to shit twice in a row.

As for putting rooms together, the upsides are multifold:

-upgrading one of the 3 wide rooms costs significantly less than 3 single wides.
-you can station more dwellers there which improves the efficiency of generating resources and generating special stats in the training rooms.
-your "kill rooms" are at max capacity for raids and events
-Putting the med, sci, and radio rooms side by side does decrease their production times. At the higher levels, you will burn through stims fast while trying to deal with the random events, so getting them back quickly is easier than trying to revive dead dwellers with caps.

Downsides:

-I believe the random events are pegged to the size and upgrade level of the room. I've heard that radroach infestations starting in the upgraded rooms can decimate a high level vault with impunity. Same for the deathclaws.
-Easy to mismanage your dwellers and not get the best efficiency for all of your resources.

Radroach , or molerats or fires take significantly longer time to take care of in 3 wide vs 2 or 1

If you have an elevator on the far right, like in mine, they go down that one, then back left

Raiders never got thru my first rm after the elevator. I never put guards in entrance rm, until they introduced deathclaws...

When deathclaws hit me, they usually go all the way across top lvl, then across my 2nd level to the diner, where my ninjas with ak47s finally finish them off

I can't tell if ppl wearing armor or upgraded clothing in the shelter actually protects or not. It doesn't seem to make a difference if they live or die. It seems more like their level, which means more hp, determines if they live

Now explorers I have found survive better with armor or upgraded clothes. You usually don't get rarer drops until they've been out there 24 hrs.

And as far as lunchboxes, I don't seem to get any good shit anymore when I get them awarded to me (haven't paid for any)

Early on I got some good shit, 2 set of power armor, rare guns, etc... Now I can't remember the last time I got good stuff, which I know they do to get you to buy more.

I think the only thing that matters in your vault is your level. I've had a guy in power armor have his health drop just as quickly as someone in the standard vault suit during a fire.

For explorers you want a high endurance stat to survive, and high luck to find stuff

The advantages of the tier 2 power/water/food/nuke cola plant is this

They produce slightly more whatever, but it takes longer to produce it...the only real advantage is that it gives you a ton more storage of whatever...

So I've found that a mix of both tier 1 and tier 2 is good

One funny thing I figured out, was in the beginning I had a guy with high C wearing the greater outfit, and when I needed chicks knocked up, I would use him, and put the chick in nightwear to raise her C, so they'd get to dancing and making babies faster...

This dude was a stud, he'd knock up chicks in record time. So after a while I set him up to stud farm again, and he wouldn't dance and fuck his chick. It just wasn't happening, so I zoomed in to see what they were talking about... And one of them says...

"It sure is nice to hang out with family."

The game remembered she was his daughter and wouldn't let them do it lol

A goddess room tending to their garden
A movie night rm
A ninjas w/ ak47s diner
I have a variety of twins that work together
The adult talk show radio rm
The Pope Francis and greaser gang member radio hr

And a variety of characters including some mmb and family members
Sammy Hagar
Francis from l4d
Kyle Reese from terminator
Ripley from aliens
Hudson from aliens
Jason Voorhees

Basically now that I'm maxed on people, I'm sending most men and all old people out to the wasteland to die, and letting in only hot chicks in lingerie
