Thank you. I mostly resembled that remark when I was a fat middle school kid in orchestra.

I hear you. I played the cello for 8 years. Except I didn't get fat until college.

While I like some of these songs in the recent weeks I guess I don't see how they would be fun to play in a game.

Still of the Night and I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight I can see. But Foreigner? Really? I mean I used to enjoy playing Bryan Adams Everything You Do on my Violin back in the day but I couldn't see that translating to a game very well.

Sorry if this derails your thread but I have been pondering picking this stuff up now that I almost have a full band in house. Some of these songs just make me wonder.

Songs like these Foreigner songs are for the ladies that play. I can sucker my wife into playing as soon as I play 1 catchy ballad that she knows the lyrics to. It works like a charm almost every time.

And for the record, Still of the Night is kick as fun to play on guitar. It's one of the best charted songs they've had in a while.

Nah. I was fat young and then old. High school I got thin when I grew up and played football then Army. Now I am working my way back to form (slowly).

But yeah. I am thinking that it may be time to pull the trigger and get into the RB thing now that the 6 year old at least can follow along.

Final songs announced for the Rock Band Blitz setlist. Personally, I'm kinda annoyed that 2 of the songs are RB2 songs that were taken out and are now coming back, but for $15 for the 25 songs, I guess I can't complain:

Quote:
Foo Fighters – “These Days”
Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”
Maroon 5 – “Moves Like Jagger”
Queen – “Death on Two Legs”
Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Give It Away”
Soundgarden – “Spoonman”

Full List:

Quote:
The All-American Rejects – “Kids in the Street”
Avenged Sevenfold – “So Far Away”
Barenaked Ladies – “One Week”
Blink-182 – “Always”
Collective Soul – “Shine”
Elton John – “I’m Still Standing”
Fall Out Boy – “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More ‘Touch Me’”
Foo Fighters – “These Days”
Foster the People – “Pumped Up Kicks”
Fun. ft. Janelle Monáe – “We Are Young”
Great White – “Once Bitten Twice Shy”
Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”
Kool & The Gang – “Jungle Boogie”
Iron Maiden – “The Wicker Man”
Living Colour – “The Cult of Personality”
Maroon 5 – “Moves Like Jagger”
My Chemical Romance – “Sing”
P!nk – “Raise Your Glass”
Queen – “Death on Two Legs”
Quiet Riot – “Metal Health (Bang Your Head)”
Shinedown – "Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)”
Soundgarden – “Spoonman”
Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Give It Away”
Rick Springfield – “Jessie’s Girl”
Tears for Fears – “Shout”

If anyone (DOOO) needs a RB drum set, Amazon has them right now and reasonably cheap (They're over $300 elsewhere with the cymbals).

***EDIT - This turned out to not be true, thses are not the DLC for 9/4***

9/4 DLC leaked early - another 3 singles:

Quote:
Blue Oyster Cult – Burnin’ for You
Carole King – I Feel The Earth Move
Hum – Stars

That Stars song I haven't heard since it came out. I remember hearing it when it came out and thinking it was Smashing Pumpkins and then promptly forgetting it ever existed.

Expect these songs soon though because they showed up in the Wii store all day yesterday.

This is what Dooo was talking about I hope and not the Smashmouth DLC.

FYI...before you buy any songs, make sure you're gonna get charged the right amount. When I went to buy a couple of sale songs this afternoon, the store said they were the discounted price, but then it tried to charge me full price. You might want to wait to buy until they do another XBL marketplace update tomorrow.

Is this the first dave mathews stuff? That seems kinda odd with their grateful dead-like cult following.

They'd probably be fun to play.

Yeah, it is their first batch of songs for RB. I would have picked different songs though (not that I'm a fan), the ones in the pack are kinda boring.

FYI - Rock Band Blitz is half off through 11/26, so $7.50 for 25 new songs in RB3. Pretty good deal, especially since it was a good deal at $15.

12/18 DLC - Elton John 3 pack, which is actually only a 2 pack because "I'm Still Standing" is in Blitz. I've wanted more Elton John for a long time, but this 2/3 pack is a real let down. There are a lot better songs that should have been released by him. Personally, I HATE "The Bitch is Back" and that song alone makes me not want to buy any songs next week. At least "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" isn't the duet with George Michael. That'd be the only way to make the song selection for next week worse.

Quote:
Elton John – The Bitch is Back
Elton John – Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me
Elton John – I’m Still Standing

I should also note that once again this is really only a 2 pack because Sing is in Blitz. I don't get why they're doing this. Blitz was on sale for 750 MS points and now they're charging 160 MS points per song for them individually.

I should also note that once again this is really only a 2 pack because Sing is in Blitz. I don't get why they're doing this. Blitz was on sale for 750 MS points and now they're charging 160 MS points per song for them individually.

Nevermind. I figured it out. It's so Wii owners can get the songs. Blitz didn't come out for Wii because they couldn't make it work with the controller.

12/30 DLC leaked early. Two new songs and another two Blitz songs that appear to make up a new year's eve themed pack:

Quote:
Andrew W.K. – Party Hard
Fun. ft. Janelle Monáe – We Are Young
Hot Chelle Rae – Tonight Tonight
P!nk – Raise Your Glass

1/8 "DLC" - 3 songs from Blitz that everyone already has unless they're playing on a Wii:

Quote:
Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks
Foo Fighters – These Days
Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera – Moves Like Jagger

Harmonix also verified that they will be releasing Blitz songs every other week for the next 3 months until untl all the Blitz songs are released as single. This also means that new DLC will be reduced to only coming out the weeks that the Blitz DLC doesn't come out. They went from doing 6+ songs a week, down to 3 songs a week, and then in the past few weeks it's been 2 songs and a blitz song, now it's come to new songs every other week. Given that we're talking about a 2 year old title at this point with no new title in it's future, I'd say this is the beginning of the end for Rock Band DLC, or at least that's how it feels. It feels like I'm being weened off of something, even though they are insisting that's not the case.

Yep, after 5+ years of new DLC, it appears March is going to be the expiration date on Rock Band DLC barring some last minute tracks being added to the schedule.

We don't have any plans to crowd source funding for additional DLC. The real issue is resource allocation. At the end of the day we have a number of new titles in development here at Harmonix and more and more devs are being moved onto those teams over time. These new IPs require significant development time, and that means less dev time for RB DLC.

So that's it then? No more Rock Band DLC?

The bottom line here (if that's what they're saying) is that it's not making them as much money as it used to. If it were still rolling in the Benjamins they'd lean on it just as hard or harder than new IP.

Pretty much. I knew it was in trouble when they cut the price of Blitz in half within 2 months of it coming out. That was the cheapest DLC has ever been BEFORE cutting the price and it still didn't sell. That and the fact that the amount of DLC released each week has been going down over the past 6 months. Eh, I'll still be playing it a year from now. I just need to stock up on extra plastic guitars.

Also, the Rock Band Network stuff will still continue, but that's a mixed back of quality and most of it is NuMetal crap.

Ooops...Looks like I spoke to soon. On the podcast they just had, they said that they plan to keep releasing songs after March, but at a much slower rate. Perhaps monthly until the next gen systems come out. Nothing has been decided yet. They did also note that there are several bands coming in the next few months that have never been in the game and that people would be surprised by a couple of them.
